Laura Hale, Owner

(all pronouns welcome)

I find immense joy in helping people do amazing things that make the world a better place.

For over two decades I have had the privilege of working within the community organizing,

nonprofit, government, and small business sectors as a fundraiser and grant writer, program

manager, business owner, and executive director.

My professional life has given me the chance to take on many roles. I've served as the executive

director for a coalition of free and referral clinics throughout Vermont, directed the city of

Burlington's AmeriCorps VISTA program, fundraised for multiple nonprofits that support children and families, supported city councilors with research and constituent outreach, and managed grassroots campaigns for first time political candidates, among many other things. Using that experience, I've worked with dozens of nonprofits and community groups as a consultant and coach to help them set and realize their goals.

My volunteer work has been equally as rewarding, serving as a member of several nonprofit boards of directors and city commissions, and as a member of neighborhood coalitions. In 2014 I founded and remain president of a nonprofit community fund, the ONE Good Deed Fund, that provides small grants for individual good deeds and neighborhood projects in my Old North End (ONE) neighborhood.

In my personal life I'm a gardener, composter, and macro nature photographer in Burlington, VT, where I live with my wife Jessica and a menagerie of rescue animals.

"From my 12 years working with Laura, I've seen that she is an effective people manager, a dedicated grant finder and writer, and someone who champions good ideas from inspiration to reality. She has brought many valuable ideas to fruition in our community, such as a plant exchange and a fund for neighbors to help each other. Her grant experience includes everything from running major federal grants including an AmeriCorps program for the city, and state grants in support of community health centers. Essentially, if Laura thinks of something she'd like to learn or do, she finds a way to make it happen!"
